The Devil Wears Prada

First thing's first. I didn't read the book, so don't expect any comparisons here. Although, from seeing the movie, I think I want to read the book now. Anyone care to lend me a copy?

Anyway, I think I'm really partial to character-driven stories, more than plot-driven ones, especially after seeing this movie, which would've been totally boring if it was just about some geek working at a fashion magazine, except of course it's not, because Andy (Anne Hathaway), is working for Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), and she is just such a piece of work.

Smart, career-driven, and somewhat of a sadist, I'm sure a lot of people can relate to the kind of boss she is, just, maybe not to that extent, but whatever, she's a fictitious character and they're always larger in life. Still, it was so cool because they were able to make her character believable. This is probably due to Meryl Streep, whom if I were a real movie critic, I'd probably go on and on about, only, I'm not, and I don't think whatever I say will give her justice so suffice it to say that she was just so cool. Even when she's being like the "devil" and all. :P

Anne Hathaway did a good performance too. I wasn't too convinced when she "changed" though, because although she looked like a supermodel from afar, up close, she didn't look very different. It was just the eye make-up that was different. And though I think she's beautiful, I didn't like the 'supermodel' look on her very much.

Big applause for the appearance of Adrian Grenier, who played Andy's boyfriend, Nate. I really like him. And his role, too, even if the part wasn't really that big. The one I think they could've re-thought the casting of I guess, would be Simon Baker because he's just not... cute. And I don't like the name of his character. Christian Thompson, sounds more like a designer than a writer, but whatever. In real life we don't get to choose our names anyway.

Okay, it seems like I'm hardly talking about the movie at all, but I can't think of anything to say about the story that wouldn't spoil it too much. Basta. I think it's a really good movie. I guess in the end, the whole "lesson" thing is again, similar to lots of other stories, but the way this one was told, was really quite well. And the ending was just perfect.

Watch it! It's totally worth it.
