Did I Really Miss Reviewing 3 Movies?
Or technically 4 because I totally cheated on the Pirates of the Carribean 2 review. I can't believe that I have to refer to my sister's blog again, just to remember which movies I have seen and haven't reviewed yet. July was such a busy month, both in movies, and at work, so, apologies for the delay.
The Producers
Not to brag or anything, but I am proud to say that just like in Phantom of the Opera, I was fortunate enough to catch this both on stage and on screen. And I gotta say that despite the whole movie magic thing, I think this thing really works better on broadway.
Using the 2 original cast members as the leads for the movie (Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick) was a probably a good move, I mean, the broadway production did them, but with regards to the other cast members, well I'm not too sure about them.
I don't really like Will Ferrell, though he did a pretty good job, and the character he played was really supposed to be annoying, so I guess the only one I have sort of a problem with would be Uma Thurman. Not that I don't think she looks her part. If it was just based on looks, then certainly she's a very good choice for a tall, blonde, semi-flaky girl. But she just wasn't as funny as I expected the character to be, like in the broadway production, nor is she as good a singer. But I guess if you didn't see it in broadway, and if the purpose of making the film was just to bring it to the masses, she would do.
The script is hilarious and the songs, though not that catchy, fit the setting and all that stuff. And I guess I'm supposed to comment about the moral of the story (it's all about friendship), but I just can't bring myself to care. And I think this is one of those period pieces where the lessons and stuff are applicable only to its setting, and not to present time.
I totally feel bad that this was only shown in Glorietta 4 and Greenbelt 3 (and for just a week, I think), but I guess there's really very little hope in getting people to appreciate more things like this.
Just My Luck
 Nothing too special here, just your normal, average romantic comedy, though I think one thing to watch out for would be Chris Pine's eyes. *_*
I think they cast Ashley (Lindsay Lohan) too young, though I can't really suggest any other actress for the part. I hate Chris Carmack, even if he fits his role here.
What's different about this is that it's also got some kind of fantasy element, where the characters can actually transfer their luck by kissing other people. Yeah, I wasn't too crazy about how Ashley kissed so many guys just to get her luck back. I mean sure, I'd want my luck back too (if it were mine), but kissing guys you don't even know? It's a little too unsanitary for me. But, whatever. It's just a movie.
(Yeah, I had a different review for this one, and I pressed some stupid key combination that erased it so now I'm too lazy to write another one that makes sense.)

Adam Sandler's new thing, which just from saying that, I'm sure you would already know that it's something funny. Well let me tell you, that on the humor angle, this movie really did not disappoint.
Adam's character, Michael, was given a universal remote control that controls life, or his universe. He can fast forward, rewind, pause and even listen to the commentary of any event of his life. Pretty fun, if you ask me, and I wouldn't mind having one around. Although of course, there's a catch to the remote control, and eventually, Michael learns that he should just live life normally because it's not really a very good thing if you prioritize your work too much and neglect your family or other things like that.
It's the same lesson you'll find in Bruce Almighty and 13 Going on 30 so I'm not really endorsing this as something very profound or a must-see because you'll learn something from it. Just, it's funny. It'll sure give you a laugh.
