Panalo! I'm recommending everyone to watch it. Seriously. Whether you like local movies or not, I really hope you give this one a chance, because really, it's most probably the best local romantic comedy I've seen.
Take aside the fact that the plots are hardly plausible, and casting wasn't very serious as there's no way anybody would believe that Anne Curtis is a kutsera, I believe one of the first things you should do before you enter the cinemas anyway is to leave your sense of reality at the door.
Anyway, that being said, this movie was so cool. I usually have doubts when they put several stories into just one movie, but I think they're getting better at it. In the same way that in Bcuz of U, the characters were linked by a car, here, although they weren't really friends or anything, they were connected by one thing or another, whether it be a place they all went to, or a kalesa that they all rode, the way they were able to get the characters interact with each other was done pretty well.
Predictably, I didn't like the first story very much -- Angelica Panganiban doesn't know how to act, and the plot she was given wasn't really very nice. Although I think it was saved by the very good screen presence of Jason Abalos, who, although I guess isn't also that good of an actor (yet), did pretty nicely as the promdi gentleman artist-type guy. And he kind of reminded me of Jason Behr in Roswell. I don't really know why though. And then of course, you can never go wrong with the province setting in the Philippines, with the old houses, and the rice fields and the rivers and all that nature stuff, it's such a cheat. :P
I expected the 3rd story with John Lloyd and Bea to be the best one, but I guess this time I was wrong, because the 2nd one is most definitely the best (at least it is for me). But seriously, I wasn't expecting to like it one bit as I'm not a fan of either Luis Manzano or Anne Curtis, but their story was something else. It starts out as a usual poor girl - rich guy plot, but as the story progresses it turns into something completely amazing. Instead of the usual money matters and how the rich parents don't like the poor girl their son's taken an interest in, it's Badong's (Anne Curtis) own trust issues and insecurities that get in the way. I don't want to spoil too much in here, but suffice it to say that this part was way way hilarious. I think I laughed more at this part than in any other movie I've seen.
Not saying that the part with John Lloyd and Bea sucked, because it really did not. In fact, it was the segment where my favorite line in the movie was said. Even if it wasn't really very new when you think about it, the way it was delivered was just brilliant. So Eric (John Lloyd Cruz) and Lia (Bea Alonzo) are both broken-hearted, and have bitterness in them that makes them a hesitant to give love a second chance. Typical, typical, except, they happen to be condo-neighbors, and Lia was the girl who found a certain tape that Eric made for his girlfriend who died, and she's been looking for him (without knowing that he's her neighbor of course) ever since. Confusing? Just trust me, that even if it sounds typical and something you might've heard/read/seen before, it really isn't bad. It's not easy to get tired of stories after all if they're told in different ways every time, and the way this one was told, is pretty nice. I just wish that Eric lost the reggae-hat, but whatever. Anyway, in case you're curious as to what my favorite line was, it was somewhere in the middle of Eric's speech about why people should love even if it hurts them and stuff: (Semi-spoiler coming up, highlight to read)
Okay, I can't really remember the exact line, but that's around 75% accurate. And though it's actually something that I've thought of before, I still really like how it was worded, and delivered.
I strongly recommend everyone to watch it, sincerely. I'd feel sorry for those who might miss it. Go to the cinemas now! Not ASAP, NOW! Hehehe.
