I knew that I spoke too soon when I said this movie was probably going to be better than Madagascar. I guess sometimes even Disney can make mistakes, because other than the graphics, there's hardly any difference from Madagascar. And in fact (I can't believe I'm saying this), Madagascar was even a bit funnier.
It was probably the screenplay that made it suck, my sister said. And I agree. Although, I don't think you can do much with the screenplay with such a boring story. Son can't live up to Daddy's (false) legacy, runs away, Daddy looks for him and they patch things up, while fighting bad guys who want to rule. Yeah, that's original. It's like they mixed Lion King with Finding Nemo, but in a very bad way.
At least they didn't make the animals too human-like. Though personally, I'd like it better if they just stayed in the city. I mean, I thought it was going to be how a city like New York, becomes like a jungle (It's called an urban jungle, after all), even for animals who are supposedly from "the wild". But it's not. It's yet again, about zoo animals trying to cope, in their supposedly natural habitat, except, they grew up in the zoo so they themselves aren't used to it. So very original. *rolls eyes* The only funny part was with the chameleons, but they had such a small part. Though, I guess if they did a lot more stuff, it'd be too much.
*Sigh* I guess, movie-making is really difficult. But really, I expected a lot more from Disney. Hopefully, they won't make this kind of mistake again.
