This was just as good as I expected. But then, I wasn't expecting it to be very good anyway and I was even expecting to get disappointed to I guess even the disappointing ending was just right.
Piolo wasn't very in-character, despite the hair extensions. Though I can't really blame him because, well, who was his character anyway? Someone whose details didn't add up. How could a small-time singer have a car that cool? Or maybe that's possible, but, to have a car that cool and still just ask neighbors if they could spare some food for dinner? Not very realistic.
Judy Ann, I guess, I did a good job on portraying a neurotic, controlling, workaholic older sister, but she sure couldn't get the whiny-bratty-spoiled-richkid-from-Manila part of her role. I don't know why, but she just didn't seem irritated enough. I should know, being one of the whiniest brats on the face of the planet (both my siblings, my parents and a number of friends can attest to this). But I guess she did a better job than all her co-stars.
Story-wise, it was fine. Going to the province on a search for her brother's fiancee and falling for a local in the process, pretty cute love story material. Except for the ending. I just, really don't like very much those "Several Years Later" epilogue-type endings. It's so unfair, it's like skipping the difficult part of explanations and just saying "Time heals all wounds," to tie up the loose ends.
Lucky for this movie, most of the dialogue, and some situations, were funny. So it wasn't all bad. But defintely, I've seen a lot better local films of the same genre, and from the same actors. So if you're ever going to see this movie, expect to be disappointed.
