Cheers for Peter Jackson! This movie rocked! Panalo!
Okay, okay, biases aside, the story was a bit too simple, and there was hardly any dialogue, though I guess nobody was really looking forward to this film for the story and dialogue. I would assume that everyone was excited about the CG animation and special effects, which in my opinion, the movie didn't fail to meet.
The fighting scene between King Kong and the T-Rexs was the best beast fighting scene I've ever seen. And the fact that a human was also involved, well, I'm impressed beyond words.
And the other creatures were so realistic that as I was walking home from the cinemas, and saw something flying in front of me, I imagined it was one of the giant mosquitoes they encountered in the movie, and literally ran for it.
I'm not a big fan of Naomi Watts, but I guess she screams well, and the scene with her on the ship where she was looking at Adrian Brody was pretty moving (albeit predictable (Somewhere In Time, much?)). All the main characters were established pretty well, and the complexities of Jack Black's character was also great. Colin Hanks also did a good job, and I wish he had a bigger part (but that's again, just my bias talking).
The bad thing I can say about this film is that it's too long (3 hours!) and unlike LOTR which was also long, but not at all dragging, a lot of parts of this movie was. I don't understand why they had to give that long an intro to Naomi's character, when all they really needed to show was that she was charming enough to tame King Kong. But then, I guess building up her character included the building up of everyone else, so... Still, the beginning was pretty dragging, and so was the part towards the end when they got back to the city. Or maybe it's just because I dislike Jack Black. The whole sequence of events in the island were great.
All I can say is, that fans of Peter Jackson and King Kong will most probably not be disappointed because the strong aspects of this movie (i.e. CG, special effects, fight scenes) can make it worthwhile, despite the weak aspects (i.e. romance bit, dialogue (save for some nice quotable quotes), story). In short, this is a movie for guys. Hehehe.

Hehehe.
