The Legend of Zorro

Okay, before anything else, I'd like to greet everyone hello!! I have not updated this blog in the longest time, and I must say, I'm so frustrated! that even now, I'm only updating with one movie. Can you believe, that before last Sunday, I have not seen a movie in over a month (I think) ?! Gah! And here I call myself a movie addict.

Blame it on the stupid schedule of my work and how my friends plan seeing movies without me. T_T Whatever. I'm glad I finally got to see another movie, and it wasn't too bad either.

The Legend of Zorro

Elena and Zorro

As is per usual with most sequels, it was not as good as the first. The beginning was somewhat boring and predictable--how Alejandro and Elena were having marital problems due to Alejandro's alter-ego, because really, what else can you do with a married couple? And of course, the fact that Zorro's rival for the girl also happened to be the main villain of the story, well, it's really nothing new. But I guess the movie got better as it went along, with the action scenes and the dialogue.

Yeah, I guess the main difference between this one and the first was that this was funnier. And not just with the dialogue, but the situations the characters found themselves in as well.

All the scenes with Joaquin (Zorro's son) were obviously to get the audience impressed, and I guess although it was obvious, it did it's job. Though, it kinda encourages kids to be more violent, and not respect their teachers. Seriously, didn't anybody find that first fight scene in the school a little offensive? Sure, the priest/teacher may be too harsh on the students, but the action taken was a little over the top.

Although Catherine Zeta-Jones is unbelievably gorgeous and not overrated, I think they still banked too much on her beauty and acting skills. Same goes for Antonio Banderas, and I guess that kid who played his son too.

Oh, well, as is per usual with most sequels, I guess I can't blame the creators for having a little fun with this one, and not taking it too seriously, that's why they didn't come up with anything better. I mean, they already made a good movie when they had the first, and this was probably just so they could work with the same people, and make more money, so, it's a so-so sequel, but at least it wasn't a bad one that ruined the impact of the first.

I haven't seen this movie yet, and I'm glad I read your review fbefore seeing it in theaters. I loved the first 'Zorro' movie and I hope this one doesn't ruin it for me.

I, too, have a blog on movies. Feel free to visit!

HAH, I totally agree.

I haven't been watching movies for a long time and then one day, I went to see Zorro. According to my friends, there was a part one to this story that came out a few years ago.

Anyway, I especially despice the fighting scenes as it was totally ridiculous. Zorro should have died more than a dozen times judging on the way he fights.

But CZJ and the kid was kinda cute, just like you say. As well as Antonio. So, I guess that saves the movie from being a total disaster.
