I don't know. Maybe it's because I already heard of the plot from Spy Kids 1, or maybe because I have a bias against Angelina Jolie. But I did not like this movie. Not very much. I mean, sure, it was cool and all. The dialogue was flawless, and the action scenes were original, but somehow, the story just wasn't all that.
I do agree with the creators though when they said that it's more about relationships than the spy stuff. They said it was more of a romantic movie than an action one, so perhaps that's why I didn't completely hate it. But then, I also agree with my friend when he said that the stuff about relationships that the movie mentioned, were stuff that people already knew--meaning, you wouldn't learn anything new from the movie.
I guess we all have different tastes, and it just so happened that this movie didn't suit mine.
I was not pleased to know that Angelina Jolie's character, Jane, was a somewhat better agent than Brad Pitt's character, John. I mean, sure, it's girl power and all, except, you know that one of the reasons she can easily kill is because she can seduce men, who are the usual culprits, and well, that's not very fair to the male spies, right? So, I was not impressed, at how organized, and logical, and excellent Jane was. I did, however, like, how John was always the one to give up first. It was a good way to get Jane to step down from the pedestal she seemed to have put herself on.
And don't say that it's just because I like Brad Pitt that's why I like John better, because I don't actually like Brad Pitt. I mean, yeah yeah, I know he's good looking, and he's not a bad actor, but I just... I'm just not as impressed with him, as I am with other actors.
So I guess, yeah, my overall comment for this movie would be that, despite its being a good one, (and it is a good one, really, I'm not saying it sucks) I was not impressed.
